Grace “Rogene” Gessner, 74, of Rockford, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, in her home. Born May 14, 1938, in Rockford; the daughter of James and Icle (McConnaughay) Wallack. She married Ron Gessner Oct. 17, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nev. He predeceased her Dec. 25, 1995. Rogene was a secretary for Illinois Bell Telephone. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, going to casinos, and playing Bingo. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and her puppies.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Vangsness and Tracy Whitaker, both of Rockford; grandchildren, Heather, Brandon, Justin, Mason, Reese, and Grace; great-grandchildren, Breanna, Ashley, and Austin; brother, Jim (Wava) Wallack of Montana; sisters, Beverly Wallack and Sue (Sam) Schiro, both of Rockford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son, Randy; and her three precious Pomeranians, Pesci, Pryor, and Pippen.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 9 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established.

I know Rogene was never the same after she lost Ron.
Rogene's love for those Pomeranians was totally amazing and amusing. You are all in our hearts and in our prayers.
