Obituary

Gordon E. Rose, 53, of Byron, passed away suddenly July 25, 2017 in Swedish American Hospital, surrounded by close family and friends. He was born April 1, 1964, in Rockford, the son of Michael Edward and Sharon Fay (Anderson) Rose. Gordy married the love of his life and best friend, Suzanne Marie Dixon, October 16, 1993 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Gordy founded Absolute Grinding & Manufacturing. Gordy was a member of Kishwaukee Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He was determined, driven and passionate, and was always trying to make everyone near him laugh. His love for others was vast but centered around his family. Gordy was a committed dad and constantly involved in his daughters' lives. He coached his daughters in soccer and softball and devoted himself to the love of the game. He was in the stands for every game being their number one fan. Gordy saw many projects through, including the restoration of his 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner, receiving his private pilot license and dedicating himself to his physical fitness. He trained for Spartan races and loved to talk about his next race strategies. Gordy loved the outdoors and was a sponsor to many in recovery.
Gordy is loved and will be missed by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Anna and Megan Rose of Stillman Valley; his mother, Sharon Moore, Rockford; and sibling, Brad (Melissa) Poupard, Caledonia. Predeceased by his father. A special thanks to Stillman Valley First Responders and emergency staff of Swedish American.
Funeral Service will be 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2017 in Olson Funeral and Cremation Services, Ltd. Fred C Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave, with Reverend Eric Tonjes officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Kishwaukee Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in care of Gordy's family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Sue, Anna , and Megan My heart breaks for you and the entire family. No words can express my sympathy. You will be held in my thoughts and prayers. If you ever need anything please know you can always give me a call. You will have many bumps in the days ahead but like Gordy told me hang in there it will be ok, you can do it!

  7. JOE AND DIANA

AS WE GO THROUGH OUR JOURNEY IN LIFE WE MEET MANY, MANY PEOPLE; SOME WE LIKE, SOME WE DON'T; SOME ARE GOOD, SOME NOT SO GOOD BUT MOST, THE MAJORITY OF THOSE WE MEET ARE ORDINARY PEOPLE. IF THE GOOD LORD BLESSES US EVERY NOW AND THEN WE MEET PERSONS NOT SO ORDINARY BUT VERY, VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE. GORDY AND HIS BELOVED WIFE WERE AND ARE SUCH PEOPLE. GORDY DISPLAYED VERY EVEN TEMPERAMENT; NEVER SHOWED ANY RANCOR; WAS QUICK TO PULL OUT HIS BILLFOLD FOR SOMEONE LESS FORTUNATE; INTELLIGENT, BRAVE; WILLING TO TAKE RISKS THAT ORDINARY PEOPLE WOULD NOT; AND ALWAYS WITH A SMILE. IF HE DISAGREED HE DID SO CALMLY WITHOUT OSTENTATIOUS ARM WAVING OR RAISED VOICE. WE WISHED WE HAD SUCH TRAITS BUT ALAS WE ARE ORDINARY PEOPLE. WE ONLY HOPE THAT THE GOOD LORD AND THEIR PARENTS BLESS THE DAUGHTERS WITH SUCH TRAITS. GORDY WE WISH YOU WELL WHERE YOU ARE AT. WE DID NOT KNOW YOU WELL BUT DID KNOW YOU WELL ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT YOU ENJOYED EVERY DAY OF WHAT LIFE HAS TO OFFER. WE WILL MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU: JOE AND DIANA. WE ARE BLESSED FOR HAVING KNOWN YOU.

Sue, Gordy was always kind to me. He always was there to give me a good laugh when he could tell I was having a rough day. Soon as I would answer the phone he would know by the tone of my voice. "don't sweat the small stuff kiddo". I am honored and blessed to have worked with him for the last 4 yrs. Prayers to you and your wonderful girls, that he so adored. I loved sharing stories about what our kids had going on.
