Obituary

Janet A. Swenson, 72, of Rockford, passed away August 6, 2017. She was born August 14, 1944 in Rockford, the daughter of Robert E. and Ina (Lindquist) Lamont. Janet graduated Belvidere High School in Belvidere, IL. She married Richard T. Swenson on September 4, 1965 in Zion Lutheran Church in Belvidere. Janet attended Heartland Community Church and was a member of the Forest City Post-Polio Support Group. She loved cooking, cookbooks and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband; son, Steve Swenson, Rockford; daughter, Amy Vance, Birmingham, AL.; siblings, Delbert (Sarah) Lamont, Edith (Charles) Wheeler, Robert M. (Gyneth) Lamont and Judith (Victor) Zoellick; sister-in-law, Janice Lamont; brother-in-law, Herbert Streed; and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet is predeceased by her parents; sister, Jean Streed; and brothers, James C. (Barbara) Lamont, and Boyd Lamon. A special thanks to Dr. Korkmaz of OSF Cancer Center and the staff on 2 South.
Memorial Service will be held on August 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Rd., Rockford with Pastor Josh Peigh officiating. Memorial Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children Hospital and Heartland Community Church.
