Reece Patton, 82, of Loves Park, passed away on September 18, 2017. He was born on January 15, 1935 in Clarksville, Arkansas, the son of Willie and Beulah (Doke) Patton. Reece married Shirley McLain on June 23, 1956 in Rockford. He was a machinist for Northern Mfg. & Engineering. Reece enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, coaching softball teams at Ken Rock Community Center, volunteered at Emmanuel Temple, and he was a wonderful storyteller. But most of all, he loved his wife, Shirley, his God, his family, and his country.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley; daughters, Sharon (Bruce) Carlson, Melesia (David) Boyer, and Jill (Brian Lawver) Patton; son, Gary (Darlene) Patton; grandchildren, Bethany, Jeremiah, Julia, Trace, Haley, Raegan, and Calista; and great-grandchildren, Seth and Evan; and siblings, Tom, Frank and Willene. Predeceased by parents; siblings, Ray, Fay, and Bill.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1002 2nd Ave., Rockford, with visitation prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 pm. Private burial in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W. State St., Rockford, IL 61102
