Obituary

Ordell M. Swenson, 92, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. He was born on January 26, 1925 in Chaseburg, WI, the son of Oscar and Minnie (Hanson) Swenson. Ordell served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Gunner's Mate Third Class. He married the love of his life, Lorraine Kluver on October 2, 1952 in Viroqua, WI. She predeceased him on July, 26, 1976. Ordell then married Constance Rothenberger on October 20, 1990 in Rockford. She predeceased him on September 19, 2015. Ordell worked as a hammer man at Rockford Drop Forge, retiring February 1987. He was a member of the Harmony Club, VFW and Ross Pearson Post 5149.He is survived by his daughters, Diane Swenson of Elgin, IL and Rita (William)Thompson of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Shannon Hallman, Brandon (Jamie) Reagan and Kelly Eggert; and great-grandchildren, Trent Hallman and Jada and Ryan Nolan. He is predeceased by his daughters, Carol Nolan and Brenda Swenson; sons, Myron and Wayne Swenson; sisters, Mabel Peterson and Vivian Bahler; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the CNA's and staff of the Dove Unit at River Bluff.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford with Reverend Dr. Mike Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery, Rockford.
