Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Harris, 92, died peacefully on Friday, October 27, 2017. She being the eldest of 15 children, loved her siblings as though they were her own children. Her mother encouraged her to work and save money to have a better life than she. And that she did. She met and married Alvin Roland "John" Harris in 1945. They were a great team…always working together and enjoying life. Betty loved to play golf, dance, and always cherished her friends. Her love and pride for her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was never ending. Most of all, she loved living. Her love of the ocean brought her peace and joy each winter. Her quick wit and beauty lit up a room. Her zest for life and her sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by eight siblings; two daughters, Jan Ellen Foust and Sandra Kay Eakes (Ron); three grandchildren, John Ryan Foust (Ellie), Kelsey Elizabeth Klein (Matt), and Ashley Rebecca Bole (Nate); and five great-grandchildren, Holland Elizabeth Foust, Kayton Tinley Klein, Beckham James Bole, Lauren Elizabeth Bole, and Oliver ELC Klein. Among those who will miss her, is her special friend Les Rhode. She was predeceased in death by her husband Alvin R. "John" Harris; six siblings; and son in laws, Robert Thomas Foust and Clark Edward Lindberg.
Private family services will be held at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St., Rockford. Memorials may be made to Morning Star Village, 1160 N Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61107 or Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 N Court St, Rockford, IL 61103.
