Roberta A. Lindley, 96, of Rockford, passed away in her home, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Born on January 24, 1921, in Rockford, the daughter of Andrew (AJ) and Cora (Johnson) Anderson. She attended DePauw University and was a graduate of University of Illinois - Champaign with a degree in dietetics. Roberta married Robert J. Lindley on August 29, 1942 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and they enjoyed over 69 years of marriage. He predeceased her in 2012. She was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she was actively involved. She served as the President of the church council, was a Sunday school teacher, a 25 year member of Bible study, and served on various other committees. Roberta was also an active member of PEO, Chapter ET, and Forest Hills Country Club, and served as President of the YWCA. She was instrumental in the formation of, and came up with the name of Brightside Adult Daycare, now known as Lifescape Adult Daycare. Roberta was known by all as a sweet, caring woman who loved helping others. She enjoyed golf, reading, travel, and most importantly, gatherings with family and friends.
Survived by her daughters, Susan (John) Majzun of Marietta, GA, Kathryn Lindley of Rockford, and Barbara (Edward Jr.) Wysocki of Downers Grove, IL; grandchildren, Kevin (Sara) Prevost, Christopher (Traci) Prevost, Jennifer (Paul) Lytle, Emily (Matt) Mittal, Daniel (Kelly) Wysocki, Andrew (Bridget) Lindley and Megan Lindley; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her son, John Lindley in 2009.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 920 3rd Ave., Rockford with Rev. Dr. Charles Olson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 10:45 am prior to the service in the church. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Northern IL Hospice, 4215 Newburg Rd, Rockford, IL 61108 or Lifescape Adult Daycare, 705 Kilburn Ave., Rockford, IL 61101.     I did not know your mom Barb but I imagine you were a lot like her, so she must have been a very special person. It is so hard to lose a parent no matter how old they are. You will have your memories of her and you will think of her every day for the rest of your life. That has brought me peace after losing my mom.
