Wilbur W. Montgomery, 97, of Kirkland passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 in Kishwaukee Hospital. Born August 18, 1918 in Malta; the son of Edward and Nettie (Applebee) Montgomery. He was a graduate of DeKalb High School. Married Helen Skurte June 26, 1949 in Chicago. Wilbur was a lifelong farmer, member of the Esmond Community and also the DeKalb County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen of Kirkland; children, Dale (Tammy) Montgomery of Malta, Nancy (Doug) Fike of North Aurora, Don Montgomery of Bennet, Nebr., and Judy (Mark) Dreska of Esmond; grandchildren, Greg (Lisa) Fike, Steve (Dona) Fike, Eric (Elizabeth) Montgomery, Erin (Terry) Miller, Mary (Anthony) Smith, April (Preston) Wyssbrod, Samantha (Brandon) Reiff, Carl (Lauren) Montgomery, and Mitch Dreska; 16 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 in Esmond United Methodist Church, 675 Main St, Esmond, IL 60129, with Rev. Tom Harmon officiating. Burial in Greenview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Quiram Sycamore Chapel, 1245 Somonauk Street. Memorials to Greenview Cemetery Association.
