Print Obituary & Condolences

Vera Jaunell Wade, 79, of Sycamore and formerly of Maple Park died Saturday, July 08, 2017 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. She was born December 22, 1937 in Pecatonica, the daughter of Troy and Lillie (Kleckler) Briggs. Jaunell graduated from Shabbona High School in 1957 where she was a hurdler on the track team. She loved to square dance and met her future groom at one. She married the love of her life, Ronald Wade on May 17, 1957 in Maple Park. They enjoyed 49 years together before his passing on September 19, 2005.
Jaunell was a daughter, sister, mom, grandma and great-grandma, but most of all she was a hardworking, dedicated farmer's wife. She helped on the family farm from planting thru harvest and always had a huge garden. She canned and froze everything, from fruits and vegetables to meats and sauces. She had a recipe book in her head, she could cook, bake, smoke, cure, or fry anything and it was always delicious. After Ron's death she returned to sewing, making quilts and crocheting lap blankets.
To help supplement the farm income she waited on tables for many years at "The Restaurant" in Shabbona and then the Country Club in DeKalb. Following her retirement from waitressing she worked for Illinois Employment services in both DeKalb and Kane County's.
She is survived by her three daughters, Debora (Mike) Hoffman of Stillman Valley, Bonnie (Richard) Wehrman of Oregon, Sharon (Joey) Porter of Shawneetown; son, Rodney (Amy) Wade of Maple Park, 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Walter (Susie) Briggs of Texas; one brother-in-law, Richard Wade of Oregon, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eugene Briggs.
We know that Jaunell is finally happy once again. She is in the arms of Ron and they are dancing to the "Tennessee Waltz".
