Obituary

June R. Elfstrom, 93, of Rockford, passed away on September 20, 2017. She was born on September 18, 1924 in Rockford, the daughter of Ernest and Caroline (Engstrom) Brobeck. June graduated from Frederic High School, Frederic, WI in 1942. She married LeRoy W. Elfstrom on January 7, 1944 in Rockford. He predeceased June on July 9, 2006. June was employed as a school secretary and bookkeeper from 1954 to 1979 at Hallstrom, Carlson, and Jefferson schools. She was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church where she was involved in the Library, Prayer Shawl, Home Bound Communion and other ministries, and received the Volunteer of the Year award at 91 years old. She was also involved in the Adelphean Circle, Friendship and Quilters Club, as well as the Svithoid Club Auxiliary, Corona-John Ericsson Lodge, Retired Secretary's, and volunteered with her husband at Swedish American Hospital for 28 years. June enjoyed many years at their cabin in Northern Wisconsin with family and friends. She was a wonderful gardener and enjoyed doing a variety of crafts; she was known to many for her "scrubbies". She was member of the Swedish Historical Society and was a docent at the Erlander Home Museum. June and LeRoy enjoyed traveling and she loved to entertain with her big Swedish dinners.
Survived by sons, Gerard and Lance (Barb) Elfstrom; grandchildren, Jill, Brad, and Doug (Brittany) Elfstrom; great granddaughter, Caroline; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the US and Sweden. Predeceased by her parents; sister, Darlene (Beryl) Bell; brother, John (Arlene) Brobeck; and nephew, David Bell.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Tabor Lutheran Church, 2233 12th Ave., Rockford, with Reverend Jane McChesney officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials can be made to Tabor Lutheran Church.

    Your mom was a very sweet, soft spoken lady. She always had a smile on her face and would do anything for anyone. I will miss seeing her.My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    She volunteered at Lori's Gift Shop at Swedish American Hospital. She was a kind and sweet person. She was always a very happy person and was a joy to work with. She will be missed but will be in our hearts forever. Bless her family.
