Robert Meredith Saxer, 80, died on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Lincolnshire Place in Sycamore, Illinois. He was born September 8, 1937 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Meredith and Marguerite (Duckwall) Saxer. He was married to Linda Adams on December 27, 1959 in Springfield, Illinois. Robert graduated from the University of Missouri in Rolla with a Bachelor's degree in 1959 and a Master's degree in Civil Engineering in 1962. He worked for AMCEC Corporation in Lisle, IL. Robert was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Sycamore, IL, and a 50-year member of the Unity Masonic Lodge, most recently with Lodge #48 in Geneva, IL. In his retirement, Robert was an active volunteer with the Shriners Hospital in Chicago, transporting ill and handicapped children and their families to the hospital for care. He also belonged to the Experimental Aircraft Association in DeKalb, IL, and was an active member of the Chicago Region BMW Owners Association, a group for motorcycle enthusiasts. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father, grandfather and husband.
Robert is survived by his wife, Linda; and eight children, Mary Carol (Thomas) Masulis, Timothy (Angela) Saxer, Elizabeth Saxer, Thomas (Elphie) Saxer, Rebecca (Philip) Vanderwoude, Robert Saxer, Sarah Jane (Bradley) Marshall, and Andrew (Brianna) Saxer; twelve grandchildren, Emily, Richard, Jacob, Kacie, Kaylin, John, Luke, Caitlin, Adam, Amelia, Andrew John and Isaac; brother, Richard (Orissa) Saxer; and sister, Dr. Jane Ryan.
He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Julie (Donn) Borden, PhD.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Quiram Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 19, 2018 in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 206 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL. Interment will follow at Cemetery Charter Grove Cemetery, 29537 Moose Range Road in Genoa, IL
